Bruce Livesey is a veteran investigator and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) who has worked for business intelligence firms in Canada and Europe. He has conducted research for banks, law firms, hedge funds, private equity firms, business individuals, and global companies.

He has investigated frauds, conducted executive background checks and research on M&A transactions, and worked with law firms and litigation funders putting together class actions. Livesey is also a licensed private investigator in Ontario.

Livesey is an expert on white-collar crime investigative journalism. He spent more than 35 years working as a journalist, mostly as an investigative reporter, where he focused extensively on researching companies and businesspeople.

As an investigative journalist, Bruce contributed to a vast array of media outlets, including CBC’s The Fifth Estate and The National, The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Gazette, Financial Post, PBS’s Frontline, Global TV’s 16×9, National Public Radio, The Guardian, more than 30 newspapers and magazines, as well as CBC Radio. He has investigated sophisticated corporate fraud, organized crime, offshore tax havens, unscrupulous business leaders and companies.  

Bruce has won numerous awards for his investigative journalism, including National Magazine and Newspaper Awards, and was a co-winner of a DuPont award, one of the most prestigious American television awards.

In 2012, he authored a best-selling book about chicanery in the financial industry, Thieves of Bay Street, which was published by Random House and nominated for an Arthur Ellis award.
